We at ICS are thrilled to share that a large-scale complex abatement/demolition and remediation project, completed in 2022 in Oakland, CA, has been highlighted as a success story on the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s website!
This project holds a special place in the hearts of all those at ICS who dedicated two years to claim, “mission accomplished”. After all, this project was unlike most in that it had a large scope of work with a multitude of elements including lead and asbestos abatement, decommissioning/demolition, intricate remedial excavations (some inside tented structures under negative pressure), UST removal, installation of a groundwater extraction treatment system, vapor intrusion mitigation, construction of stormwater capture and treatment infrastructure, and an engineered cap all at one project site! We certainly cannot forget the precise and intricate task of preserving the former GE’s building’s façade designated as a historical feature, adding another layer of complicity to this project. Our work on this project allowed for the subsequent development of a 530,000 SF distribution center and warehouse standing tall today on this site.
Thank you to the collective efforts of our operations team, subcontractors, and other partners (consulting and GC teams), as well as every individual who played a part in the success story of the former GE Oakland project. We are forever grateful for the dedication and hard work of those who have not only helped shaped this project, but also our company`s legacy!
